A Little About Me
Hey! I’m Evelyn, a college student – turned creative writer- interested in movies, tv shows, books, poetry, writing, art, you name it! I love any product of expression that allows us to convey stories and ideas with meaning.
A couple years ago, I was halted by my words. The thoughts, the ideas, the imaginations… I couldn’t find the exact words to express them. And so they would pass as they were observed.
Expression is the medium to capturing our presence. To represent stories- to represent lives. To dissociate and observe our mind for what it produces and to convey these productions with the same intensity they come on with.
It’s not simple. We could represent ideas with our words, through film, through art, yet the interpretation may never capture the true essence we intend. It’s a skill to be a master of expression. A skill that involves looking into yourself and understanding if this is what you truly mean.
I am always learning new ways to express my thoughts and my ideas. Expression involves constant rendering and work to be the truest to yourself. One of the best ways to do this is through observation. Stepping back from the things you love and understanding what captivates you. For example, when it comes to creative writing, the character and world building skills I have learned over the years were through analyzing my favorite shows and books, which has in turn made me a better writer.
I created Evergreen Musings as a platform to help people express themselves and their ideas through creative writing, journaling, and hobbies. Whether you are a beginner writer or an advanced storyteller, I hope this website could inspire you to articulate your words with presence (or visuals if you are an artist, or music if you are a musician, or film if you are film maker, etc.)!
Inspo for the name
While the name may initially suggest a focus on philosophical reflection, Evergreen Musings is a blog focused on deep reflection along with creative expansion. The name serves to embrace the timeless and vivid qualities of both reflection and innovation.
History of the Blog
If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know Evergreen Musings wasn’t always Evergreen Musings…
It all started in 2019 when I gained some time on my hands and wanted to work with it productively. That’s when I decided, I would write about productivity and self growth!
Questiv- Question Initiative was a blog that emerged to help other students reach their fullest potential in their career and academic pursuits through understanding the values that went into taking initiative.
Questions are the backbone to personal growth. To examine and discover why we do things. Questiv was a blog dedicated to helping students understand the “why” and encourage showing up everyday to reinforce the pursuits.
In 2023, I changed the site’s name to Evergreen Musings- a name unlimited to interpretation. The broader site identity of Evergreen Musings was for embracing personal growth, but not just through asking the right questions. Evergreen Musings encouraged additional ideas of philosophy and introspection, two focuses abstracted in Questiv.
While I continued passionately in the personal growth and productivity niche in 2023, I felt like something was missing. A topic I could write so much about was missing a personal touch. The content I produced was trending and perfectly informative to fit the niche, yet most of the ideas were about actionable methods and pursuits to grow. But where did I, the writer, stand in all this?
I stepped back from my original content and pondered what I was really eager about. What I really did to grow. There are a million hobbies one could start and a million values one could hold- What were my values and how did I pursue them?
In 2025, Evergreen Musings took a more personal take: Expression. Expression, particularly through writing, was what motivated me to check in and to take action. With this idea in mind, I made my 3rd rebrand. As I learn more about what makes me passionate to write and what I believe is necessary for you to know, the reader, the focus of this blog will continue to shift. I have removed all of my old posts and will take the time to add a personal voice to each, so you know the personality and motivations behind the writer.
Today, Evergreen Musings is a blog about expression, particularly expression through writing. I hope to share my perspective on writing – both creative and personal writing- to help you find your voice.
