Why I Created Evergreen Musings

Welcome!

If you’ve been here, you probably know this isn’t my first blog. I started a blog in 2019 called Questiv: Question Initiative. Evergreen Musings is the 2nd version of that blog.

You might be wondering why I changed the name and the look while still maintaining the same purpose. I didn’t mean for this blog to be totally new. Rather, I would consider it a remodeling of the old blog.

As a newbie blogger in 2019, I wanted to remain anonymous. I honestly thought it would be cool to work under a pseudonym and create a cloud of mystery behind my content. However, I thought this meant I couldn’t share any of my personal stories or experiences.

I feared prejudice. I believed that others would be clouded by predisposed judgements before reading over what I had to say.

So I didn’t share any stories. I left out my experiences in learning and taking initiative, only putting out the lessons I learned.

However, all of that changed once I got into self help books.

Making a More Personal Blog

Books like ‘the 4 hour workweek’ and ‘168 hours: You’ve got more time than you think’ brought me solace as I worked on becoming my best self (specifically, using my time wisely).

What I noticed about these books were the numerous anecdotes. Every book referred to either snippets of experiences from one individual or full on accounts of stories from several individuals. The lessons learned throughout the book were drawn from different stories and experiences.

And they were presented strongly. Every experience was different, making each lesson stronger.

The stories were backbones to the lessons. Each story involved context to the situation as well as self reflection.

My fears of prejudice turned all my blog posts into mere lessons and no experiences. Just like movie spoilers: no one wants to watch the movie if they already know what’s gonna happen.

My old blog was vague and general, but this blog embraces who I am. I talk about the lessons I learn while embracing the experiences. I have a newfound confidence in my stories and hope to explain them in my own voice.

But I still choose to use a pseudonym. My name doesn’t explain who I am, my voice does.

The Name

Musings are periods of thought, whether that would be deep or wide thinking. As a person with an interest in envisioning what our future is like while focusing on my own personal goals, I wanted the name to be inclusive of both creativity and introspection.

I hoped to convey the timeless and vivid qualities of creative and deep thinking, an evergreen quality to musing.

The Content

I am a current student and a part time teacher. I hold the power to be inspired and to inspire others.

With this blog, I hope to talk about what I learn as a student and what I learn as a teacher. I hold a tremendous interest in the sciences, specifically psychology as it helps us explain our actions through understanding the control center of our body: the brain. I refer to psychology to scientifically explain methods to become better at learning and becoming our best self.

As a personal blog, I also share miscellaneous content on whatever interests me! And I am thankful for my audience, the ones that choose to listen to my stories.
